LA Foody Guide

LA is plant-based-food heaven, especially where we were staying in Venice Beach. There are healthy cafes on every street.

I thought it only fair that I share with you all some of the best cafes I hit up while in Los Angeles. Also, I would advise grabbing a snack because all this amazing food is going to make you hungry.

Backyard Bowls

The smoothie bowls here were next level. The açaí bowl was one of the best I have ever had and that is a bold statement coming from me. My whole family went and got a bowl and loved it (even my not so health enthusiast little bro).

I got the island bowl which is a blend of mango, pineapple, banana, açaí and coco milk and topped with granola, banana, coco chips and berries.... you guys need to try it.

Cafe Gratitude

Cafe Gratitude

I had been looking forward to going to Cafe Gratitude for so long so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that we were staying just down the street from it. Not only is the food amazing, I love the concept of the restaurant too... gratitude. Each dish is named different words such as humble, grateful etc. and when ordering you say I am and the the name of the dish. It is such a beautiful way of doing it.

Now onto the food. Sadly because we were only in LA for a few days I only got to the restaurant once but it was so good. My mum and I shared the eggplant caponata, the mexican bowl and some roasted yams, everything was delicious.

Plant Food + Wine

Plant Food + Wine

The food I ate at Plant Food + Wine was some of the best food (I have ever had. I have had some really good vegan food at restaurants but never more upmarket/fancy food like i had here. I brought my mum and dad along and they both thought the food was amazing (so its not just coming from a plant fanatic like me.)

We got loads of delicious food to share, the highlights being; the smoked hummus, kimchi dumplings, farro and fennel sausage, summer tostadas and a heavenly dessert, the coconut cream pie (tastes like banoffee). It is a bit pricier than we would normally spend but totally worth it.

Also it is definitely worth trying to get a seat outside, the setting is gorgeous. Trees and plants everywhere, twinkling fairy lights and more.

Amazebowls

Amazebowls

This was another amazing smoothie bowl place we tried in LA. The texture is so thick and perfect, also the toppings are delish, we are talking granola on the top and under the açaí! The base I recommend going for is the açaí mint, it is so refreshing and different. Also the choccy granola on top is so tasty.

The only downside is that the bowl it comes in is disposable plastic, oh and you know me and my açaí..... i could do with a bit of a bigger portion size for the price.
