Jess is the founder of the health and wellness blog Choosing Chia

She is 28 years old and currently live in Montreal, Canada. She loves cooking, yoga, and traveling the world. 

I have been following Jess' instagram account for ages. Her food always looks incredibly delicious and her travel photos are amazing. Jess' whole feed looks like it should belong in a gallery. I hope to be able to create food and photos like she does some day.

What sparked your interest in health?

My interested in health really started after I began practicing yoga. I learned all about a yoga lifestyle which incorporates eating healthy.

A typical day on your plate?

The day for me starts with a protein smoothie and maybe an energy ball or homemade granola bar. Lunch is usually a big salad with some protein and a side of whole grain bread or crackers.  For dinner I'll usually whip up a stir-fry with ingredients like quinoa, tofu and veggies. I also love to snack all day on fresh fruits, nut butters and some dark chocolate.

 

Your top five foods for better health?

Quinoa, Chia seeds, hemp hearts, lentils, and Spinach.

One food you could not live without?

I think I would have to say Bananas!

What you seek is seeking you.

Who and/or what inspires you?

There's so many things that inspire me! One of my biggest inspirations is my travels. You can learn so much from different cultures around the world, and even learn some great new recipes!

Your favourite type of exercise?

Yoga!

How often do you exercise?

I usually exercise 5-6 days, for 30-60 minutes a day. This can be anything from a HIIT workout, to cardio, to yoga, to running or even just a walk. I always make sure to listen to my body and not push myself too hard if I'm not up for this.

How do you take care of your mental health?

I make sure to take the time to meditate for at least 5 minutes every day.

Some advice to your 16-year-old self?

Don't give up on what you really love. 

What are the key things you have learned in your journey into health and wellbeing?

The biggest thing I learned is that health & wellbeing is a journey, not a destination. It's about constant learning and evolving.
