Wellspo; J.J Beasley aka Beazys Bites
J.J. Beasley is 23 years old. He recently graduated with a degree in business management and now is on the road to getting his master’s in nutrition and eventually becoming an RD (registered dietician).
J.J has a hugely popular instagram @beazysbites that is full of mouthwatering food. He is a great role model in the fitness world, especially for men and boys as there are not many men out there promoting health and nutrition.
I always scroll through his insta feed and automatically feel hungry and am drooling at the amazing looking food. I am so happy to have been able to interview JJ for my blog.
What sparked your interest in health?
I think the combination of always being in athletics and having a desire to help
others planted that initial seed, plus I am one of the biggest foodies you will ever
meet and I love to cook! But I don’t think I really started to take a deep dive into
nutrition specifically until around my sophomore year of college when I started to
deal with a few health issues myself which I ended up treating on my own through
nutrition. That’s what really ignited my passion.
A typical day on your plate?
I usually wake up and have some warm lemon water or tea. Then for breakfast I normally have some eggs with lots of greens & avocado or oatmeal. I’ll have a pre- workout coffee and then lunch usually consists of a smoothie or loaded grain bowl (quinoa, rice, buckwheat, etc.) with salmon, more greens, roasted veggies & maybe a few nuts/seeds or a sauce. Dinner usually involves some sweet potato with lentils or beans and more veggies. I also always snack on fruit, nut butter, nuts & seeds, toast with hummus, etc.
Your top five foods for better health?
Dang this is tough because I believe most whole foods play a vital role in our health!
A few I like are sweet potatoes, avocado, leafy greens, berries and hemp seeds.
One food you could not live without?
This took me so long to answer… I got to go with sweet potatoes!
Have you a motto you live by?
Be genuinely nice to everyone you encounter and spread a positive energy. Never stop being a student, there is always a chance to learn and grow. Cherish every moment, especially the little ones.
Who and/or what inspire you?
I try to take inspiration from everything! You’d be surprise where some inspiration can come from, but also my family and closest friends are an inspiration as well.
Your favorite type of exercise?
If you know me you know I love Crossfit. But I also love hiking, playing sports, and just being outdoors.
How often do you exercise?
Daily if I can. Even when I take rest days I try to stay active!
How do you take care of your mental health?
I try to take time for myself each and every day! That might be waking up early to
have a slow morning to myself, going for a workout, creating a proper meal or meditation/mindfulness.
Some advice to your 16-year- old self?

Since everyone is so unique there is no universal approach to health and wellness,
