Yoga That Resonates
Review: Humming Puppy Yoga
I visited this yoga studio while in Sydney and loved it so much I want to share it with you.
Once you climb the stairs and open the door to the studio, a calm and positive air surrounds you. In the reception you are greeted by your teacher (in my case, Jess Wong) and told to get yourself ready. The big comfy sofa and light refreshments (herbal tea, coconut and filtered water) look very enticing ad the bathroom is fully equipped with showers, towels, lockers and toilets. Once ready, you just chill on the sofa until your class commences.
In the shala there are Manduka mats, blacks, straps and sweat towels set up. Your mat is booked in advance and is ready for you when you enter. The room is quite dark with long flowing curtains and is lightly heated (no hotter than 27*c).
The class was powerful, challenging and fun. I did the dynamic hum which included some tough poses, flows and inversions. Beginners would be better off trying the mellow or unified hum classes.
Overall I really enjoyed the experience and it was a great workout (I sweated A LOT) and most of all left me feeling calm and restored. However, at $35 AUD per class, it is expensive so even if I lived close by, I wouldn't be a regular but would treat myself with a visit.
Humming Puppy has two studios: one in Melbourne and the other in Redfern in Sydney (just 5 minutes walk from the train station) and above a funky little tea bar called The Rabbit Hole, that had a huge choice of herbal teas as well as some healthy snacks and a yummy looking breakfast & lunch menu.
Altogether a wonderful yoga experience guaranteed to leave you feeling amazing. Make sure to pop into the tea bar after for a drink. brunch, treats and more.
