Wellspo: Venetia Falconer
Venetia Falconer is a presenter with a background in TV producing.
She is a Tastemade host and recipe creator. Venetia makes lifestyle blogs on her YouTube channel and she also has a podcast called Talking Tastebuds, where she interviews inspirational people about their relationship with food.
I am so happy that I was able to interview Venetia. I love her videos, instagram, blog and her podcast. She is such an inspiration to me.
What sparked your interest in health?
Wanting to feel my best, not just physically but mentally too.
A typical day on your plate?
Porridge for breakfast with seasonal fruit and tahini, chia seeds and maple syrup.
A stuffed sweet potato for lunch with lots of greens. And a tofu stir-fry for dinner with rice, mushrooms and veg. I love snacking on smoothies, energy bars and dark chocolate.
Your top five foods for better health?
Oats, dark leafy greens, frozen berries, brown rice and hummus.
One food you could not live without?
Have you a motto you live by?
“Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.” Michael Pollen.
Who and/or what inspires you?
People who live without fear.
Your favourite type of exercise?
I’m obsessed with yoga and I love a good walk!
How often do you exercise?
I try to get myself out walking in the fresh air daily. But actual workouts, probably about three times per week.
How do you take care of your mental health?
I meditate daily for 20 minutes as soon as I wake up and try to take regular breaks from social media.
Some advice to your 16-year-old self?
- Drink more water.
- Stay away from Diet Coke.
- Wear sun cream.
- Study feminism.
- Hug animals.
- STOP PROCRASTINATING.
What are the key things you have learned in your journey into health and wellbeing?
- That everyone has different physical abilities and nutritional requirements, specific to their bodies.
- There’s not much a good cuppa and fresh air can’t cure.
- Stop worrying! The only thing worrying achieves is a waste of time.
